College: Toliver played four seasons indoors at Michigan State, where her last two years she ranked second in the Big Ten Conference in aces per set. Toliver was selected Honorable Mention AVCA All-America as a senior.

Personal: Toliver is the daughter of Paul, who played one season of basketball at Hope College, and Carolyn, who played basketball and volleyball at Muskegon Community College and Grand Valley State. Her older borther Greg played baseball at Kalamzoo County Community College. In high school Toliver was fifth in the state in high jump as a junior.
