College: Smith played beach volleyball at UCLA. As a freshman she went 27-11 mostly on courts three and five, alongside Tessa Van Winkle, Marlie Monserez and Lea Monkhouse, and she was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. In her sophomore season she went 26-6 mostly on court four with the majority partnering with Marlie Monserez. Smith finished 24-13 as a junior, playing solely with Kenzie Brower mostly on court three. As a senior she was 17-4, splitting time on courts three and five alongside both Harper Cooper and Kenzie Brower and once again was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. Smith ended her UCLA career with 94 wins, which ranked as the 12th most in program history at the time. Smith competed indoors as a graduate student at Indiana, where she had 149 digs, 24 aces, 22 kills and 12 digs.
Personal: Smith's father, Scott (and his twin brother) played volleyball at the University of Waterloo in Canada. Her uncle, Steve Smith, played on the Canadian National Volleyball Team and professionally for 10 years in Belgium and Germany. She has an older brother, Ethan, who played volleyball at Harvard and a twin sister, Katelyn, who plays indoor volleyball at Southern Cal. Smith earned her AAA rating at the age of 14. Smith was the 2019 AAU Beach Volleyball Player of the Year, and the 2020 California Gatorade Player of the Year.
